How do I update Plesk for a 1&1 server?


The steps outlined below demonstrate how to upgrade from Plesk 10.0.1 to Plesk 10.3 on a Linux system. The process is the same for Windows servers. Please ensure that iptables, IP Sec, or any other firewall/packet filter is not blocking port 8447

Step 1:

First, log into Plesk. For more help, please reference How do I log into Plesk?
Step 2:

On the left-hand menu, select Tools & Utilities.

Click the Updates link from the Panel section of the page.

You are taken to the Product Components update page. Since we want to upgrade the product itself (Plesk), click the Cancel updating link.

Click the OK button to confirm.

Click the Install or Upgrade Product link toward the top of the page.

Step 7:

Check the box next to Parallels Plesk Panel to select it for upgrade. By default, the newest version will be selected for install however you may be able to choose another option if you wish.

Click the Continue button to proceed with the upgrade.

Step 8:

The upgrade will begin and a log will show you the current actions being taken. A progress bar is also shown at the top right of the page. Typically, an upgrade of Plesk should take less than 15 minutes. Occasionally you may be logged out of Plesk due to inactivity while the upgrade is running. A result of this is that the upgrade may appear to be stuck. If this happens, simply close the window and follow steps 1-3 to get back to the update page.

Step 9:

You will receive a message when the upgrade has successfully completed. Click the OK button to continue.

Step 10:

You will see at this time that Plesk has been updated to the version you selected. You can now Update Components or Add Components by click the links toward the top of the page.
