What are the e-mail size limits? What is the maximum allowed size for an email attachment? The 1&1 mail system allows email messages to be a maximum of 50MB for both sending and receiving. This means that the largest attachment you can send or receive is about 30MB, this is because of the way the e-mail encodes files, the encoding process adds around 40% to the files size. This encoding process is called MIME. Please note that this only applies when using an e-mail client. The 1&1 Web Mail system can only send and receive files of a maximum of 2 MB. Keep in mind that, when sending large attachments via email, you need to make sure that the person you are sending it to can accept it. ISPs and email providers may have a much smaller maximum message size. Every mailbox has a quota of 2 GB or 40,000 e-mails. Please note: There is a combined mailbox limit of 25 GB per contract. |
