I uploaded my pages but my homepage still shows the 1&1 introduction.

Once a domain has been registered and available, an automatic 1&1 "placeholder" introduction page is generated and will be displayed when the domain is visited. The file showing this page is called index.html for Linux Hosting packages and default.htm on the MS Hosting packages.

Tip
For Linux Hosting, when uploading please make sure that the homepage is called index.html (please note all letters have to be in lower case) or, alternatively, delete this index.html using an FTP programme and publish your homepage. For Microsoft hosting please make sure that your first page is called default.htm

Even so the 1&1 page may be shown, owing to your web browser having cached the file. To fix this hold down the "Ctrl" key and press refresh. You should now see the uploaded file.
