What is the standard DNS setup?


Domains registered with 1&1 have the following settings by default:

* 1&1 Name servers.
* 1&1 MailServers.
* Automatic IP Routing to 1&1 Web space.


External Domains



MailServers are chosen in the add on process. You will have a choice to stay with your current mail servers or choose 1&1 MailServers.

RootServer Domains



Routed to the standard IP of your Rootserver.

This way we ensure that the domain is registered properly. (Domain registrations are rejected when the name servers are set up incorrectly.)

Tip
Although a few Registrars allow 13 name servers, 4 are more than enough.
