How do I set up my mail server to point to my Mail Exchangers IP address (A record)?


To have your mail redirected to another IP address, please follow these
instructions:

I: Set up a Subdomain.
1. Log in to the 1&1 Control Panel. If you have only one package, you will land on the Administration page.
If you have more than one package, select the relevant package to reach
its Administration page.

2. Select Domains.

3. Select the domain. Click the arrow next to New and select Create Subdomain.

4. Select the domain and enter any name for the subdomain. Click OK.

The subdomain will be created in approximately 3 hours.

II: Change the IP address of your Mail server.
1. Click Domains

2. Choose your subdomain and click the arrow next to DNS and select
Edit DNS Settings.

3. Choose Other IP address under Advanced Settings. Enter the IP address of your
Mail Exchanger. Click OK.
The IP address will propagate in 24 hours.

4. A confirmation is displayed.

III: Change the MX record of your domain.

1. Click on Domains.

2. Select your domain and click the arrow next to DNS and select
Edit DNS Settings.

3. Choose Other mail server under Advanced DNS Settings. Type in the subdomain
you just created (IP address of your Mail Exchanger was assigned to). You can
use 'mx00.1and1.com' as other MX record. Click OK. The propagation will
take minimum 24 hours.
